Taster days are a one day event for anyone interested in taking up further training with Iron Mill College. If you wish to apply for any course, we encourage you to attend a Taster Day first.
Our Taster Days have been designed to provide you with an introduction to Iron Mill College as a place of learning and will provide you with an overview of the various training programmes we offer. You will also be encouraged to reflect upon your own experience and personal awareness.
It provides an opportunity for tutors to begin to build a relationship with you and for you to learn more about us, who we are and which course could be the right one for you.
We usually start with an introductory talk about the ethos of Iron Mill College and a brief discussion about some factors to consider when applying for a course.
The rest of the day is spent in group activities introducing some of the key skills and themes related to counselling and psychotherrapy, with opportunity to explore and experience different ways of working.
The day will end with small group interviews which take the form of a tutor-led open-discussion.
Venue: Cardiff, Exeter and Poole.
Duration: One day 9.30am - 4.30pm (includes lunch provided)
Taster Days are open to anyone interested in taking up further training at Iron Mill College.
Everyone wishing to attend should complete and submit a Taster Day Booking Form in advance (there isn't much time during the day to do this). Please use this form to tell us about any of our longer courses you are interested in or have already applied for - this will help us make sure the day covers the key interests of attendees. Please complete and return this form to firstname.lastname@example.org or to Iron Mill College, Morwenstow, 7 Barnfield Crescent, Exeter, Devon, EX1 1QT.
Those attending a Taster Day who have already applied for our Advanced Diploma in Counselling will also be invited to a group interview for that course as part of the Taster Day.
