* The Cathexis School of TA COURSE AIMS To provide a comprehensive psychotherapy training programme within which students will:
* develop an in-depth understanding of TA theory and its application
* locate TA in the spectrum of other psychotherapeutic approaches, both theoretically and philosophically
* learn the methodologies of TA and their relationship to other methodologies
* develop an understanding of the nature of the therapeutic relationship and the variables that affect it
* become familiar with systems of assessment , diagnosis and treatment planning and understand their advantages and disadvantages
* understand and apply ethical and professional practice principles to the role of therapist, and the responsibilities involved
* integrate theory and practice in the context of psychotherapy
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Year 2 (Advanced Certificate)
* To feel more secure in the understanding of where theory fits practice and practice fits theory
* To be confident in knowing the significance of relationship and to be more aware of the subtly of individual client’s needs
* To be able to experiment with different ways of being with the client
* To be able to assess more effectively risk as well as need to be begin to feel more competent
Year 3 (Diploma)
* To begin the move from apprentice to journeyman
* To be able to use supervision more effectively to build on what is learned on the weekend training
* To pay attention to phenomenological data
* To begin to feel more confident in the assessment of risk and treatment planning
* To be aware of the subtlety of contracting
* To be fully aware of the significance of relationship
* To develop skills of being able to stay engaged and think at the same time
Year 4 (Advanced Diploma)
* For students to feel competent and creative in their relationships with people suffering from a range of disorders
* To recognise the significance of particular kinds of emotional need
* To be able to work ethically and competently with a range of different presenting problems
* To be able to help the practitioner to protect themselves through recognising the demands certain styles of adaptation need in the therapeutic process

Entry requirements
Advanced Certificate
Successful completion of our Certificate in TA or equivalent integrative training of a minimum 120 ITA accredited training hours.
Diploma
Successful completion of our Advanced Certificate in TA or equivalent integrative training of a minimum 240 ITA accredited training hours.
Advanced Diploma
Successful completion of our Diploma in TA or equivalent integrative training of a minimum 360 ITA accredited training hours.
Accreditation
The psychotherapy training is based over a minimum of four years meeting the requirements of the UKCP, ITA and EATA/ITAA. It also provides a route by which students can become accredited by the BACP.
UKCP is an umbrella organisation of organisations. It is divided into several sections and we are in the HIPS section (Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy Section). Within this section there are accrediting organisations from which one can achieve UKCP registration, provided one completes the full training requirements.

Taster Days
We offer one-day tasters in all of our longer training. These days are both informative and fun and you will leave with some useful tools. They take place 2-3 times a year, dates can be found in the Workshops section of the website. If you decide to progress onto further training the amount you have paid will be discounted from the course fees.
