Workshop Description

In this workshop, Jenifer will draw together the theoretical and practical elements of a fully integrative approach to the practice of psychological therapy in contexts where brief work is required. After a short introduction to a time-focused approach to practice in circumstances that necessitate brief work, those attending will be introduced to the principles of negotiating a clear and flexible contractual commitment and to finding a central issue for focus. A specific tool to enable practitioners to find a focal theme for each therapeutic encounter will be presented and participants encouraged to experiment using their experience from their own practice.

Participants are offered an opportunity to take advantage of some of the cutting edge conceptual and research information regarding effective time-focused psychotherapy. Issues regarding the supervision of time-focused practice will be explored and the organisational interface debated.
