Faye Channing
Faye Channing - Marketing and Communications Officer

 Marketing and Communications Officer

Areas of responsibility: Faye is responsible for all aspects of the college's marketing. This includes the development and implementation of the college's marketing strategy and encompases 'traditional' marketing, digital marketing, advertising, public relations, and market research. Faye's role also involves assisting and advising the College Leadership Team on business development matters.  

Faye has joined the Iron Mill team in January 2021. Faye has worked with London advertising agencies, regional organisations and start-up business in marketing. She currently runs her own community spirituality business in energy healing and releasing trauma. 

Faye enjoys researching about the human consciouness and working with people to enrich their livelihoods. She also enjoys connecting with nature through wild swimming and long walks in the woods. 

Liz Cordin

Job title: Administration Assistant, CPD and Libraries Officer.

Areas of responsibility: Welcoming visitors and students to the college, reception work, taking bookings, data processing and general office duties; and participating in duties supporting the running of the college office.

Profile: Liz joined the team in February 2019. She grew up in London but moved to Devon over thirty years ago to study at Rolle College and never moved back. Working for Devon Libraries gave Liz the chance to connect with many people who needed to talk in a deeper way. So she came to Iron Mill as a student to study the Counselling Certificate and then the Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling. She works for a low-cost counselling service in Exeter and is also developing her own private practice.

Liz lives with her fiancé, a dog and two cats in Exeter. She loves cooking, crafting, and being out with her dog by the water or in the woods.

Karen Van-Evelingen

Areas of responsibility: Running and developing the Iron Mill Counselling Service

Whilst training at Iron Mill College and being in placement, Karen became passionate about making the benefits of counselling accessible to as many people as possible. As a qualified counsellor, she was delighted to be given the opportunity to take on the day to day running of the Iron Mill Counselling Service in June 2021.

The service offers affordable counselling to the public and the opportunity for students at the College to work with real clients in a safe and ethical way. Prior to joining the staff team at Iron Mill, Karen had a career in Accountancy and Finance for many years. Karen also works therapeutically with clients in agency and private practice in Cornwall and Devon. In her personal life Karen enjoys walking in the countryside and along the beautiful coastline. She also maintains a keen interest in photography, capturing those moments in nature.

Fred Hawkins - College Enquiries and Facilities OfficerFred Hawkins

 Enquiries and Student Services Officer.


Areas of responsibility: Course and general enquiries, and the central point of contact for all enrolled students.

Profile: Fred has been part of the Iron Mill team since January 2008 and has fulfilled a wide variety of roles in that time. Fred’s current role as College Enquiries and Student Services Officer sees him as the first point of contact for all visitors and enquiries to the Iron Mill, providing up-to-date information and liaising with other departments in order to meet any requirements. Fred is also the first port of call for all of our current students, assisting in a variety of ways to ensure an enjoyable experience at Iron Mill College.

Fred has previously worked in the hospitality industry in the UK and Australia, and is currently studying a BA (Hons) Degree in Humanities, specialising in English Language and History. 

Sarah London - College Development Co-ordinator (Kent)

Job title: College Development Co-ordinator (Kent)

Qualifications: B.Sc (Hons.), Adv.Dip. Couns, Dip Sup, PGCE, Level 2 AAPT Reg. MBACP (Accred.).

Role(s): Development Co-ordinator for activities and opportunities at Iron Mill College, Kent. 

Profile: Sarah is responsible for developing opportunities for the student learning community at Iron Mill College, Kent.  She has experience in counselling training, developing, managing and delivering counselling programmes from basic skills to Advanced Diploma in various settings and Project Development and delivery for a national charity.

Sarah has 17 years experience working as a counsellor and has worked in various settings, from prison to primary school. She holds Senior Accreditation with the BACP and currently supervises school staff and counsellors, as well as delivering counselling in schools and maintaing a small private practice with all age groups, working both indoors and outside, sometimes alone and often assisted by her Dog as co-therapist. 

Sarah is currently developing our Animal Assisted Therapy training and a lifelong interest in Ecotherapy. 


Marilyn McGowan - College Development Co-Ordinator (Poole)Marilyn McGowan

Job title: Development Co-Ordinator and Advanced Diploma Lecturer (Poole)

Role(s)Development Co-ordinator for activities and opportunities at Iron Mill College, Poole as well as a lecturer on the Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling

Profile: Marilyn is responsible for developing opportunities for the student learning community at Iron Mill College, Poole. She has an extensive portfolio in counselling training-developing, managing and delivering counselling programmes from Basic to Advanced Diploma and Degree Levels. Marilyn's commitment to counselling children and young people has also led her to develop CPD courses at national and international levels, within statutory and voluntary sectors, for fellow professionals involved in supporting vulnerable young people. 

A former Chair of BACP’s Counselling in Education Division (now CCYP), Marilyn was editor of the first set of Guidelines for Counsellors in Schools. Her development of Peer Supervision for Key Workers in Careers Scotland won a National Careers Guidance Award. She is currently developing initiatives for parent counselling in schools as well as continuing to work as a School Counsellor, Supervisor and Trainer. Marilyn also continues to develop her own learning by undertaking a Professional Doctorate in School Counselling. 

David Neale - Student Services and IT OfficerDavid Neale

 IT and Facilities Officer.

Areas of responsibility: Support for students from sign up to graduation and maintenance and development of IT systems and applications.

David has been with the Iron Mill College team since February 2009 and is currently responsible for all aspects of college provision for enrolled students across all courses. David’s role also involves the development and coordination of IT services in line with college strategy. This includes providing IT training and support as necessary to students and staff.

Before joining the Iron Mill College team, David worked for a large multi-national company where he was responsible for the company’s voice communication infrastructure. He is currently studying with the Open University for a Degree (BSc) in ICT and Design.
