An essential workshop for counsellors and psychotherapists working with children and young people, held in Poole. 

We will address the two key problematic areas facing therapists working with this client group, namely protecting confidentiality and privacy, and secondly, working within existing child protection and safeguarding legislation. 

This is an highly participative workshop, which explores key aspects of the law relating to therapeutic work with children and young people in England and Wales.

Peter Jenkin’s workshops are very popular so early booking is advised.

Course Details

  • Understand the law in non-technical language 
  • An interactive day with a variety of presentation styles including short presentations, case studies, group feedback and discussion 

  • Addresses the many issues relating to working with the Gillick principle in a therapeutic context

  • Looks at more recent legal developments impacting on this landmark decision Introduces a practical and effective model for understanding and applying children's rights

    Applied to a variety of practice contexts, such as health and education, amongst others
  • Plenty of opportunities for questions and discussion

Eligibility:

Our CPD workshops are open to anyone who is interested in the subject matter, wants to develop their skills and expand their knowledge. This workshop is particularly aimed at counsellors, psychotherapists and those in helping professions who work therapeutically with others.
