Rose Bedford - PrincipalRose Bedford

Areas of responsibility: Leadership in the strategic direction, growth and development of the college; chairing the senior management team; leadership and management of all departments within the college; overseeing of academic and professional standards and practices; implementation of new initiatives.

Profile: As Principal of Iron Mill College and Academic Director of PCI College in Ireland, Rose’s role includes facilitating and enhancing opportunities for sharing the excellent standards and practices offered by both colleges. A senior accredited and registered member of the BACP, Rose has previously been in private practice for many years, providing counselling and supervision, board member coaching, and organisational staff development and training. Prior to training as a counsellor, Rose’s career was largely focused around equality and diversity roles, with particular interest in higher education access relating to mental health and disability.

Rose is continually involved with higher education through External Examiner and External Advisor positions, roles on various academic committees, and ongoing new HE programme developments. She is enthusiastic about creative, innovative and contemporary approaches to teaching and learning, and the potential of students to make a difference in the world. Recent qualifications include the award of Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy, Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education Teaching and Learning, Postgraduate Certificate in Supervision, and a Foundation in Art Therapy.

Jan Cavill - Programmes Lead and LecturerJan Cavill

Job title: Programmes Lead.


Qualifications: PG Cert HE, MBACP (Accred.), UKRCP (Reg.), Adv. Dip. Couns., Adv. Dip. Supervision EAS (Accred.), Post Qualifying Diploma Counselling Children & Adolescents, Adv. Dip. in Applications of Integrative & Relational Approaches to Transactional Analytic Counselling & Psychotherapy.

Areas of responsibility
Overall responsibility in maintaining and enhancing standards in the delivery of existing programmes at Iron Mill College and the development of new initiatives. She is also the Course Lead for the Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling.

Profile: Jan works closely with module leaders and the faculty team who are responsible for delivering programmes. She has been involved at Iron Mill College for many years, including as a lecturer. Jan works closely on admissions, curriculum development as well as providing a comprehensive approach to the continuous improvement of programmes. She is very much involved in the care and progression of teaching development. 

Jan enjoys being engaged in such a creative learning community, within a college with a reputation for innovative teaching that gives a high priority to enhancing the quality of each student's learning experience. She finds the development of new and established professional programmes a very rewarding part of her practice, along with her interaction with both lecturers and students - as this is where she see the results of the team's hard work. Jan's passion for her work has never changed and she still loves learning. She takes great pleasure in seeing students' progress and grow in confidence with their personal and professional development. 

Derrick Hopf - Finance ManagerDerrick Hopf

Finance Manager.

Areas of responsibility: Business, finance and human resources management.

Profile: Born and bred in South Africa, Derrick's background in business is set predominantly within the commercial and retail service sectors where he successfully launched and operated two businesses before moving to the United Kingdom in 2008.

Having taken a few months off to 'settle-in' with his wife and three children, he joined the Iron Mill in 2009 as Business Manager and moved in to his current role of Finance Manager in 2011 having acquired his Dip. Accountancy (ACCA).

Amanda Murrell - Academic AdministratorAmanda Murrell 

Job title:
Head of Administration Services.

Areas of responsibility: Admissions, Learning Support, HE Programme Administrator, academic liaison and management of the college Administration Team.

Profile: Amanda joined the Iron Mill College team in January 2016 and her role includes processing applications for all the college’s courses and co-ordinating the college’s Learning Support service. Amanda is also the Programme Administrator for all the Higher Education courses offered by Iron Mill College and validated by the University of Worcester. In August 2018, Amanda became the college’s Administration Team Manager. 

Before joining Iron Mill College, Amanda worked as a primary school teacher. She has previously worked as a housing manager, tenant advice worker and university administrator in London, East Anglia and Devon. Her qualifications include a BA (Hons) Degree in Philosophy.
