Key note speaker_1

Conference:  Therapy in Transition: Working Relationally in the AI Era
Date:                Saturday 14th June 2025
Time:              09:00 - 16:30
Venue:            Exeter Rougemont Hotel by Sunday, Queen Street, Exeter EX4 3SP

At the heart of counselling and psychotherapy lies the power of human connection. Yet, we find ourselves navigating a world increasingly shaped by AI and technology. How do we sustain relational depth in our practice amidst this digital shift?

Join us on June 14th for a thought-provoking day of talks, workshops, discussion, and debate as we explore:

  • How to stay grounded in authentic connection in an AI-permeated world

  • Approaches to working with emotionally shut down clients and the impact of emotional neglect

  • The latest insights from neuroscience and what they mean for our work

  • Whether AI can play a positive role in the future of counselling and psychotherapy

  • How we can continue to recognise, affirm, and celebrate our vital role in meeting human distress with empathy and presence

This year, we are honoured to welcome Dr Graham Music as our headline speaker – a renowned psychotherapist, trainer, and author with over 35 years of clinical experience, and a leading voice in trauma-informed work.

Graham will offer a rich and compassionate exploration of how to engage clients who feel shut-down or ‘desparked’, drawing on his decades of work at the Tavistock Centre, the latest scientific insights, and real-life clinical practice. His talk will focus on the effects of trauma and emotional neglect, and how we can work relationally, somatically, and courageously to re-energise clients who feel lifeless, numb, or disconnected.

Alongside Graham, our speakers - Dr Ana Lund, Matt Hill and James Barnes -  will examine the wider transitions in therapy, from technological change to relational practice, in the age of AI.

This event is designed for counsellors, psychotherapists, students, and those with a deep interest in mental health. This is a space to reflect, reconnect, and reimagine our practice together.
